FirstLine Gloves Offers Emergency Preparedness Plan
In our effort to be proactive, FirstLine Gloves has implemented an Emergency Preparedness Plan for all customers. In conjunction with our plan, FirstLine is also launching our "Sister City Program." This program is aimed at identifying a "partner city or agency" for each and every FirstLine customer.
FirstLine was the glove supplier to the City of New Orleans during the Katrina disaster. We were fortunate to be attending a tradeshow prior to the Katrina disaster, which afforded us the opportunity to work directly with our EMS contacts to sufficiently plan for adequate glove stocks to support the pending emergency. Unfortunately, those stocks were lost in the flood, and since all communication was lost with the city, FirstLine began working with the City of Baton Rouge to communicate with our EMS colleagues in the City of New Orleans.
FirstLine was fortunate to also be the supplier to the City of Baton Rouge, which aided in our ability to effectively communicate and liason with the City of New Orleans, allowing us to determine that our personal delivery of gloves to New Orleans was an imminent requirement.
FirstLine's team set out within 2 days post the Katrina hurricane and worked in the City with our New Orleans colleagues to stock each and every triage location with gloves, skin protectants, as well as quiqlites, all products that were desperately needed.
Upon our return, our team worked tirelessly to raise funds to re-uniform the women and men of Baton Rouge EMS, many of whom had lost all uniform clothing during the flood. It was this experience that taught our team the necessity and value of providing immediate response as a supplier who supports 1st responder agencies.
The "Sister City Program" asks for each customer to appoint two neighboring departments or agencies that can act not only as a liason, but a potential stocking location while the FirstLine team works to re-establish communication with our affected customer.
