FirstLine Gloves, Inc. Donates to Grossman Burn Foundation

Colette Perches presents Founder Dr. Richard Grossman, and Meredith Rattay,
Program Director of the Grossman Burn Foundation with FirstLine's contribution

FirstLine Gloves, Inc. selected the Grossman Burn Foundation for its 2010 charitable contribution. FirstLine President/CEO, Colette Perches, presented Dr. Richard Grossman with a donation at the recent S.A.F.E.R (Southern Area Fire Equipment Research) meeting at the City of Solvang Fire Station.

“Every year FirstLine selects a charity to support,” Perches told Grossman, “This year the team got together and chose the Grossman Burn Foundation and we wanted to thank you for all of the amazing work that you do.”

Grossman founded his first burn center in Sherman Oaks, Calif. in 1969 and has devoted his life to giving medical care to burn patients and their families. He has since developed three additional centers located in Orange County and Bakersfield, Calif., as well as, Lafayette, La.

The Grossman Burn Centers provide specialized care so that their patients have the most chance for successful recovery. Grossman has also established many ground-breaking new techniques, which are now used in hospitals nationwide.

Perches said the FirstLine team selected the Grossman Foundation because they had heard about the excellent care that was given to the Ventura County Firefighters who were taken to the Sherman Oaks Center after being burned at the local Tea Fire in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Each of Grossman’s facilities offer a large staff that includes surgeons, specialty nurses, pediatricians, psychologists and pulmonologists to cover all aspects of patient care, for not only the burn victim but also their family.

Grossman gave a presentation at the S.A.F.E.R meeting in which he informed the attendees of the differences of first, second and third degree burns and the processes of how his facilities treat these different types of burns.

“After seeing the presentation and knowing what FirstLine stands for, it seemed like the perfect fit,” Ryan Metzger, FirstLine Eastern Customer Support Specialist said, “I’m glad we can help out since it is such a good cause, because Grossman’s facilities help patients for the long term, they don’t just see it as a quick fix.”

All of the staff at Grossman’s facilities continues to treat the patients for the duration of their lives; they do not discharge them to other hospitals or doctors offices after the initial treatment is over. This way they can continue to provide their patients with the best care and technology available.

Both Perches and the FirstLine Gloves Team are excited to support the Grossman Burn Foundation and are thankful for the services that its hospitals provide to the patients and their families.
